What is design?
There’s often ranting and discussions on the very basic question what is design? Anyone who ever tried to explain the difference of designer and artist to someone who doesn’t want to get it knows how difficult this can get. Sometimes words just don’t do the job, or not good enough. In those cases a good picture might help. I guess Mark Boulton had similar thoughts when he designed what I claim to be the best slide on design:

Thanks to SlideShare you can see the whole presentation this slide belongs to in his blog-post about his speech at the Web 2.0 Expo in Berlin just a few days ago. I had a few days off work that week and was already thinking about going to Berlin, but decided not to. Looking back this might was a wrong decision.
However I heavily recommend watching the slideshow, for Web- and all other designers.
