Yamato

Yesterday we saw the new “Matsuri”-Show of Yamato (the drummers of Japan). I was looking forward to this – the mere thought of asians hysterically bashing gigantic drums on a stage makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside. I mean, think of it: “Asians. Drums” – do you feel the excitement?

The show exceeded all expectations. There’s nothing like a huge concert venue vibrating from the pure phsyical force of gigantic drums. It’s a special sound you literally feel, every single beat. Sonic waves rushing through your body at deep and intense frequencies no recording could ever possibly recreate.

Add to that artists that enjoy what they’re doing every single second, a good sense of working the audience, perfectly fitting humorous performances and unbelievable fast and coordinated drumming and there you are.

Seriously, go see Matsuri. Full Stop.
