Faith? Good to be human, still.
Today in the early morning hours one of austria’s most famous politicians died. Jörg Haider, well known for his extreme views, almost childish actions (like moving town’s name signs around in an act of protest), had a lethal car accident.
Now I’m not into politics. And I’m certainly not into Jörg Haider’s way of politics. I never liked his views, his actions and their impact on the world’s opinion about our country. He made austria look bad, or at least weird. But he was there, and to be dealt with, and over the years with his vanishing and uprising and all that stuff he kind of got the one famous joke of our political scene.
Anyways, after all the above I have to say that these news were shocking. The picture of his wrecked car. His left woman and children. He may not have been the most beloved politician, but I guess there’s a lot of “Haider is a jerk”-people, just like me, out there who now feel bad for what happened. It’s just wrong if someone dies unexpectedly.
Well Mr. Knoflach, I probably am a “Haider is a jerk” person if not even a “Haider is a stupid, racist piece of …” person and yes of course it is a tragedy how his life came to an end and a terrible thing for his wife and doughters and especially his mother who would have celebrated her 90th birthday on the following day of this incident.
but these things and a lot worse things happen every day, every hour around the world to “average joe’s” who’s families have no financial securities or any other securities and no one gives a FUCK about that and them.
I just think it’s a bit of a cowardly act feeling shocked and sorry for him know. The way his life ended doesn’t change the way he lived his life, who he was and what he did. I mean from his fatal injuries one can say that he probably didn’t use his safety belt and was going to fast in his big, German, from a manufacturer that is known for extremely safe cars, limousine. A car that a hell of a lot of people can’t and will never be able to afford. That guy was known for living his life and having fun for example with his sports cars.
Well that is my point of view. The only thing left for me to say is that I am just glad that this tragic accident didn’t happen before our elections. Because if it had the result would have been even more right winged.
Granted. After getting in on the details (140km/h in a 50 zone, reckless driving, stupidity) my shocking pretty much vanished.
Just for the record: It’s always shocking if someone dies unexpectedly. Just if Mr. Neighbour normal man dies it’s not on the news.
thanks for granting my opinion ;-) . Yes I know what you mean and I know my post was written in a quite aggressive tone but on that day I just read a lot of opinions and posts in different messaging groups and forums which were all about like this; the poor man, the poor family, our messiahs has left, our best politician has passed away etc. etc. and everyone who just droped his message saying something in a way like I did here was almost cursed and sweard at by others. And well THAT pissed me of.
Now I must say I would have really preferred having survived the crash and having to have to face the consequences for this mad speeding accident. And I am also glad that no one other got hurt or worse, in this accident.
But isn’t it strange that we or lets say you humans (I’m still not quite sure if I am one ;-) ) are only shocked by death if we’ve got a face for the victim. I mean really If we would change the headline for example from: Dr. Haider gets killed in his phaeton at 140 km per hour, into salesman XY, 59 years of age gets killed in his golf gti hitting a roadsign with 140 km per hour, everyone or lets say a lot of people would only think something like; what an idiot and they probably wouldn’t feel very sorry for his left family, no they would think, oh well how could he have driven this irresponsible having a family to be fed and taken care of. or? what do you think?
Mhmm I mean to be honest, also if it’s not a nice way of saying it: That man put his lights out himself. I’m sorry to say, but he did.
I just wanted to say that we perhaps just should be aware that these things happen a lot to a lot of people who then leave a lot of people behind. I think the factor awareness is something that is becoming very instinct in our generation and the following ones and I guess it’s soon going to be extinguished.
please change “very instinct” into very ecstinct in the last paragraph. (its late and i have no idea how that word is spelled correct, i just know that it aint written INSTINCT) thanks
You’re just a cheap fake englishman, do you know that? It’s spelled “extinct”. And no, I’m not gonna change it – everyone shalt see your failure and look at you and say: “No. OOOOH NO, an englishman he IS NOT! OOOOOH NO!”.
Well I’m not an Englishman. I wasn’t born in England and never lived there. I’m just a halfbreed. Born and raised in Austria but brought up bilingually, English and German by my mother who is English. When will you understand this you pain in the ass.
AAAh and yesterday it was quite late when I posted the message and as usual my fingers were faster then my brain.
ARRRR I’m just watching the newsflash and guess what, Mr. Haider was quite a bit tipsy when he had his crash. aight!!!
