The idea
October 19th, 2007 |Hello & Goodbye
I have always been attracted to webdesign. That started back in the days when I attended a highschool for IT. They tried to make us fit in C, Cobol, Java and other humpty-tumpty compiling programming languages. I love to program, but I never liked how slow the process is until first results can be seen. Webdesign is so much more direct, in ways of visual as well as application design. Somewhen I realized that there are standards to follow, that there should be a separation between structure and presentation and so forth, you know the story. However I got out of all of that before I could really dig deep since I started my graphics design studies and I was tired of technical things and wanted to go for more visual-based and relyable things, print design that was.
Mese back
The way back came with blogging. I always was attracted by the idea and I had a blog for quite some time, due I always spent a few hours on php-coding just for the variety in a print design student’s everyday business. I also realized that most of all graphics designer don’t have an idea about what webdesign is about, for them the whole thing ends after photoshop (or they slice the whole thing to dreamweaver and save, but that’s already extra juice). On the other hand I had to give in that most of the webdesigners always praying the rules of usability and standards didn’t have a clue about good design. Austria is a small country and there’s not much professional webdesign around here after all.
Facelift, anyone?
Since I am a changer I need a new blog design every once in a while. And the more I got back into the matter of webdesign the higher the approach of the next design was. And this documentation is where I’m at the time. A bit much of an effort for a blog? Probably. But as said above, I’m a push-it-further guy. So i push. Also this project shall act as kind of a portfolio, not only showing the result of my work but also the process, my thoughts and how I got where I will hopefully be in a few weeks.
